Did you know that according to statistics 95%, of Internet Businesses fail? I also read somewhere that the average Internet Marketer is lucky to make $50 a week. Thank God, I’m not in that position, but I once was (and would still be) if I hadn’t learned the following information.

No focus

You’ve got to have clearly defined goals if you’re going to make money online. What do you want to achieve? For me it was financial independence, I was sick of working for other people and I wanted to be the one making the decisions, I knew that I had a good skillset and lots of potential as I’d got a Degree in Computing and several years experience working with computer networks, building and fixing computers.

I also had several niche interests which I could claim to having some expertise in. I knew if I drew on those talents, I’d make some good money and I did. I set up a computer repair/upgrade business and I was soon making a large amount of money. I also created websites for small to medium sized businesses and that was lucrative too. I advertised my services in the local press and on notice boards and for a while I was contented. My lifestyle improved, I purchased my first house and had the car I’d wanted for a long time, I holidayed frequently in exotic locations, but I had to do a lot of work to do and I wanted something easier. Like something  advertized in one of those ads… “Make $1000 a week for 1 hours work”, Now I knew that such a statement was true because in the past I’d made $200 for an animated logo that took me 15 minutes to create.

Wasting time

How much time do you spend looking for ways to make money online? Browsing niche forums and leaving comments, reading emails, posting to Twitter, checking your adsense and Google earnings? So much of my time was taken up by these activities that I was lucky if I made a dollar a day.

You need to shedule these activities and keep them to the minimum, concentrate on being focused and launch yourself into your first project and visualise the outcome. Write your goals where you can see them, if you believe in the Law of Attraction…use it!!!
Turn off the television, get rid of the background noise and work hard. Leave your weekends free to spend time with your loved ones and never work on those days. Work on improving your mind and learning how to quiet it. Keep an open mind and consider all possibilities, get excited about life and start living it! If I were to promote an affiliate product, (which I don’t do because I make my own). Look at that product and ask yourself honestly, “Does it make me want to buy it?” “Does it press my emotional hot buttons?”. How many people are promoting a Clickbank product half-heartedy and putting very little into their pre-sales material?

Wasting money

How many “get rich quick” schemes have you bought into? Man, several hardrives on my network are full of products I’d paid $1000′s of dollars for, which maybe I started reading and putting into action only to discard when I discovered the “next big thing”. Look at the ads “which push your buttons” and use them for a copywriting swipe file.

Taking on too much

I’m an ideas person and I love turning my ideas into lucrative income streams, but it’s too easy to have several projects on the go with none of them complete. You need to prioritorise your projects and to complete each one in turn. I know I’m not telling you anything that you do not know, but I bet you’re regularly guilty of doing these things. It is often said that “the power is in the list” and there is a lot of truth in this statement, we all know that this statement refers to optin lists, but it also applies to the list of duties you need to complete in a day.

Make a list of all your projects and work through each one in turn. The time will come in the future when you have enough disposable income to be able to hire someone to work for you, but in the meantime you need to plan.

Learn how to let go

When you start making money, if you’re anything like I was then you tend to hoard it, especially if you’re not making too much. Spend what you can afford to spend, but don’t be miserly. Use that money to help people too, maybe give some to a childrens charity. I firmly believe in the “law of reciprocity” and that there is a karmic monetary exchange, when I give I receive. Try the law of Attraction too, it does work if you put some hard work in. It’s not just a case of sending a wish out to the universe…you need to Act if you want to receive. I owe a lot of my online success to Brainwave Entrainment, I meditate every morning using this amazing technology, refresh and heal myself with it and use it to develop both myself and my business.(Learn More Here)

Automate

If you’re working on your own, you have to get the most out of your working day. Automate your acivities as much as possible, look for the things that slow you down. If you’re writing articles, learn to touch type or use speech recognition software. If you’ve got some money to spare, outsource the duties which you find tedious and time consuming. Sign up for Aweber (or buy PHPautoresponder if you’re strapped for cash) and work on building a list.

If you’ve got a problem, brainstorm ways to resolve it, maybe you could use an Imacros script to automatically handle directory submissions (you could even sell this as a product).

Maybe you could take some time out to learn a free programming language, like Autohotkey
Think about all the duties you can automate and if you can’t build something to handle the task, see if you can find a freeware solution or a software application which fulfils the purpose, if there’s nothing out there pay to have the software made…it will pay off.

Here’s a list of the duties which I have developed software to automate. Some of these items are free or have fully functional demo versions. Without these tools, I’d be making a lot less online!
