Niche Marketing is an established technique of targeting a small-scale group of people who have an interest in a particular product. It’s a fact that there is lower demand in a niche marketplace but you can make a very fruitful living from prospects who are far more likely to become loyal and returning customers.
A niche market is a sub section of markets within a bigger but more general one. For example, Internet Marketing, Niche Marketing, Offline Marketing , Email Marketing, Bum marketing, Guerrilla Marketing and Affiliate Marketing are all sub sections of Marketing. Each subsection might cater for entirely different audiences.
Niche Marketing is a terrific way to find brand-new business opportunities and returning customers, and because of this anyone looking at working from home should look at this.
How to research a potential niche:
1. Get ideas
Brainstorm ideas and look at sites like Amazon, or Ebay Pulse to find out what are the top selling products. You might well find that these markets are entirely saturated and consequently you will need to further examine sub sections of the niche. I use a software application to do this to speed up the process, but it can be done for free by using Google’s free keyword tool. If you decide to use the Google adword tool to do just enter your keyword/ keyword phrase, ascertain that you have checked the “check synonyms” box, fill in the Captcha and submit. Google will return your keyword phrase and also suggest related keywords. I generally select “show all” and sort the data by the Global search volumes column.
in the Global search column look for keyword phrases having around 1600 searches a month (approx 53 searches a day) and can quickly pick out phrases that are not too competitive and are worth targeting. Even phrases which receive 20 searches a day (600 searches a month) can generate some good sales.
As soon as you’ve picked out a good keyword phrase it is now time to continue researching on Google.
Using Google’s search facility type the following commands:
2. site:keyword phrase.com
This shows how many pages of this domain have been indexed by Google . If the site appears lots of times it is safe to assume that the site is an authority site.
3. “keyword phrase”
If you put your targeted keyword phrase in quotes you can get an understanding of how many people are competing for the keyword phrase. Google will reveal the phrase in quotes only where they appear together on the site or page. With this data we can find out how easy targeting the niche will be. (Particularly if the displayed results are lfew). If you discover that the quantity of sites is higher than 30000 then it will be hard to dominate the niche.
4. allintitle: keywordphrase
This reveals all of the sites that are actively focusing on the keyword phrase, where the phrase is contained in the title. This is a powerful tool and can uncover some good prospective niches.
5. allintitle: “keywordphrase”
Similar to above but this time returns pages where the keyword phrase is used in the title. This will give you an even better idea of how many competitors are targeting this niche.
6. inurl: keyword phrase
This reveals all of the domains which contain this keyword phrase and also shows the competitors targeting it. Using keyword based based domain names will give you an advantage over some other competitors and this phrase will disclose the people using niche marketing methods.
7. Creating ebooks, software products, finding an affiliate product or monetizing your site with Google Adsense.
I next search forums and “Answer based” sites associated with the niche to distinguish the questions people are asking on the subject. I join these forums and look for affiliate products (or produce my own software/ebooks) which folks in this niche will value. Making Ebooks is easy to do as all you need to do is respond to the questions that people are asking in the niche. You are able to do this with Google Docs and when the document is finished you can download it in PDF format. You may want to use this method to produce small reports and sell theml for $7. This is a quick and easy way of making money. At a price like $7 the customer does not actually have much to lose and is very likely to buy, but you still must aim to provide value or these people will not buy from you again. A good tip here is to search public domain information which you can modify and sell. I have a material on my site which describes in further detail how to do this.
I typically create products which sell from $16 to $50.
When you start a new project keep all of the details of the email address, accounts, passwords and anything significant in a spreadsheet. I use one main Google Account for this. I use the Spreadsheet facility of Google Docs for this, so I never need to worry about computer hardware failure.
8. Create a website or blog
The next thing to do is create a blog or website (I prefer blogs) where and market your product, this can be achieve by registering and hosting a domain which will cost a few dollars. I have discovered that “.info” domains go well and cost ess than $2 (I usually use godaddy.com). You will also require a web host (I use hostgator.com). I stick with .info domains and if they make money then I’ll buy the “.com” address as well. I have an ebook which goes through how to do this and how you can use free hosting completely with amazing results, removing the need for buying or hosting domains and has some excellent tips.
9. Get backlinks to your blog from free High PR directories
I submit my new blog to approximately 100 free web directories. This will get backlinks which will help my blog to rank well on the search engines.
10. Promote the blog via a network of Web 2.0 sites
I will produce unique content for my niche and create a Blogger, WordPress, Squidoo, Hubpages, Twitter page et. Each of these pages will be linked by a one way link and each one will also point tomy main blog. Once the network is finished I use a tool like pingomatic.com to “ping” the RSS feeds of each the pages. I create several networks with each one targeting different keyword phrases pointing to my main blog
11. Bookmark and promote each Web 2.0 property
This needs to be done on a large scale and will require creating several accounts to bookmark the Web 2.0 sites. It is a fine idea to automate this procedure and there are several good applications available which can do this. However this can be done for free if you register at onlywire.com. Now is a good time to revisit he forums that you joined earlier and produce a subtle (please notice I said subtle!) signature for your profile with a link back to your main site. Do not spam the forums behave like a regular member and provide quality answers and information to forum members. This will gain you respect and trust from the community. If you abuse your account you will get banned, so tread carefully.
12. Compose unique articles and publish them an thebest article directories
Write good content for your niche and publish it on free High PR article directories.
13. Rinse and repeat the process
I have described the entire process now and it is just a question of repeating the process for new niches. This technique will make you good money online and even better will cost you hardly anything.
If you follow the steps in this article you should be able to dominate the search engines for your search terms and should receive the benefits financially within a short time.
Automating the process
To really benefit from niche marketing and to substantially increase your income you need to be very organized and centered and will need to automate the process
