I love blogging and it makes me a reasonable amount of money online, but man does it take a lot of work to increase web traffic to one’s creations. I love writing so it doesn’t really feel like a chore, but lately I’ve been wondering if it may be possible to increase web traffic simply by find an audience before setting up the next moneymaking blog.

Here’s a strategy I’m going to try and it’s all about capitalizing on social networking.

One of the biggest obstacles when starting a blog is dropping links in posts on forums, etc…when you haven’t built a relationship with the people there. They don’t know you from Adam, they might think you’re just there to get traffic (they’d be right) and so they’re less likely to visit your blog than if you were their friend.

Well heres my strategy for March 2009 and it’s got to be the best way to increase web traffic.

I’ll set up an account with Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, Linkedin, Digg, Reddit, friendfeed etc and start making some friends. I’ll do all of the initial niche research so I an find an area where I can give some value, check out their problems, do what I can to help them and to gain trust and then when things are looking good I’ll create a blog and let them know about it…I bet I’ll see an immediate surge of web traffic.

What a killer idea…I may just make a fortune :)
